Week in review

Another mild weather week for us - how lucky and blessed are we!  Here is a picture of K & A ice skating last Sunday.  My little ice ballerinas they will be!

We went to the Como Zoo Conservatory on Saturday.  We had bbeautiful weather and the conservatory was bursting with color.  K & A had fun - probably our best outing ever.  They walked and were very curious about all of the flowers and plants.  They really enjoyed watching the Koi swim around in the pools.  Emily came over yesterday for play date.  So good to see Emily and Karen and it was so good to hear 3 giggling girls having so much fun together.  Hopefully they will always be friends!

Last Wednesday, I thought it would be a good idea to get the girls out of the house for some exercising fun.  After suggesting going to a community center, both girls said they wanted to go to the community center with the teeter totter. (Eagan).  So off we went and we had some fun.  Only one meltdown, so it was a success.

So blessed to be a mom to K & A.  How lucky am I?  Off to sleep and work tomorrow - wish me luck with my morning snowy and slow commute.....

Our Sunday was filled with church, making valentines, and our first trip to the ice arena.

K & A are starting to understand holidays and what traditions go with each holiday.  Last Friday, we brought Valentines for all of their classmates at New Horizons.  They had a little party and took home Valentines and candy from all of their friends.  The candy was a big hit - they do really well with understanding that they only get one piece of candy a day.  In church today, they made Valentines with a message that "Jesus loves all of us."  Allie walked around the house all day singing a song from Sunday school about I love you.

After lunch we went to the Eagan Ice Arena and rented ice skates for all of us.  It was all a new adventure so K & A enjoyed people watching and observing this new sport called skating.  After getting on all of their gear (bike helmets and all!) we all went on the ice.  Todd had Allie and I had Katie.  The first round was a bit tough - they were both wet noodles and did not understand the concept of standing up and balancing themselves.  But after one round, Katie started to do much better.  The ice arena had a few skating helpers, which looked like a little walker.  By the time we left (one hour later) Katie and I were motoring around the ice quite well.  She fell about 5 times, laughed, got up and skated some more.  Allie did so well too.  I think we will definitely go again!  I also had a blast!

Here are a few pictures.  The first 2 pictures are of K & A playing outside on their playground set. It has been such an incredibly warm winter here in MN.  Where is the snow? The picture were taken on February 8th.   The 3rd picture is of  K & A perched up on their favorite windowsill eating toast!

Kindergarten Roundup

I am happy to report that both K & A did very well at their kindergarten screening yesterday.  I was a bit nervous in thinking that there would be some misbehaving and non-listening skills displayed but I was proven wrong,  Katie was taken in the room first and her teacher told me that she was very impressed with how mature and well posed she was, for being such a little peanut!  I went into Allie's room with her and she looked like such a big girl sitting at the desk all by herself.  2 of my favorite moments with her were:

When the teacher was trying to have her say opposites and the teacher said, "The buy runs fast the girl walks ______. "  Allie should have said slow but she said, "The girl walks on a very sunny day!"  True happiness right out of her mouth.

The second great moment was when the teacher gave Allie a piece of string and she wanted Allie to tie a knot with it.  Allie tied a knot no problem.  It must be all of the practice she has had tying knots in her hair!

Thinking and praying for my mom tonight.  Love you mom and prayers are with you......
